I collaborated with a multidisciplinary team to design an immersive exhibition for Port of Rotterdam, Container 42, and the Maritime Museum, turning the smart container’s innovations into an engaging experience for families.
We designed Future of Freight, an interactive installation that puts users in the role of a ship captain transporting a smart container through various challenges. Through the use of touch designer.
At each checkpoint, users engage with mini-games on a central touchscreen table, based on real container features like climate monitoring and shock sensors. The experience aimed to inform both children and parents about smart logistics through play and storytelling.
Throughout the process, we iterated heavily. After our first prototype, we conducted user research and stakeholder interviews to refine our concept. We shifted our focus from purely technical features to highlighting sustainability benefits, like reducing damage and improving food preservation. In the second iteration, we aligned the visual identity with the branding of Container 42 and restructured the experience to better suit both kids and adults.
